Cookout Fun…

Saturday was a bore given that Cris worked in the morning and then I worked in the afternoon, but it’s all good because we had just enough time to marinate some drumsticks, get the laundry done, prepare the rest of the cookout food, and watch a bit of tv over our dinner of corn on the cob.  Yes, you heard it here, all we ate was corn on the cob.  Although we also did get out for a bit and take charlee to the local dog park, which was a disaster.  He was more interested in sniffing the people and getting their attention than playing with the dogs or sniffing their butts…it was a sad night for socialization.

Sunday was great fun, though it got off to a slow start.  Though everyone should have been at our house around 1-1:30pm, the cookout really didn’t start until about 2pm…no worries though, we all had a great time.  The food was good, though the fire kept going out, and everyone was chatty.  Jamie reprised his role as the entertainment for the group by riding a "bucking panda" in the adjacent children’s playground, whilst flailing his beer about and nearly spilling the beer all over himself.  Though the next contestant in the bucking panda riding contest, Cris, my husband, failed to save his beer from the ground and his shirt.  That was quite entertaining.  The two entertainers were at it again.  And the one enlightening thing we all learned on Sunday was that Jamie knows his species and his sex; thank goodness because we were all beginning to wonder.

Victoria brought along Daisy who tried to teach Charlee that it was not polite to hump her on the first date nor the second.  Unfortunately, Charlee did not learn a thing and was brought inside shortly thereafter eating an entire bag of chips the wind blew over.  He got a lot of treats he wasn’t supposed to have that day, though I have to say I’m glad to see that Charlee was actually going after a dog of his own species and a female dog at that…rather than Jamie’s leg for instance.  I don’t think Charlee humped Jamie the entire time he was hanging out with us all.  Thank goodness for him.
