Cookies, smoothies, coffee and poetry
- THIS IS A CROSS-POSTING FROM MY YAHOO BLOG:

It
all began with a text message…a laughing fit, well not a fit, a
laughing moment, a roundtrip shuttle ride around AU’s campus and an
offer to eat half a cookie. What a crazy afternoon?!The
plan, a poetry meetup in D.C. at Breakwell’s Coffee on M Street, got
there too early, but we ordered an Italian sandwich with a spinach wrap
and it was delicious…all homemade, none of that premade food that
seems to frequent cafes in the d.c. area. Some strong ice coffee and a
peach and raspberry smoothie, complete with real peaches at the bottom. The orange, maybe peachish walls were so warm and inviting, and the
decor was fabulous. what a cozy little shop…great place for meeting
like-minded poets and artists…we’re expecting to meet again once per
month on the first Thursday of the month around 6pm. reading work and
offering advice or comments in a casual format….lots of coffee
drinking…pastry…and sandwiches…should be great fun. I’m looking
forward to it.Now, I have to get into a fiction group just like it…at least one night per week. Gotta get back in the swing!
by the way, the vegan cookie…finally eaten by the person trying to get rid of it.
